Help in dealing with grief

We understand that the days, weeks, and months following a funeral can be some of the most challenging. Grief affects people in different ways, and there are no rules as to how long each stage of grief should last, as each person’s experience is unique to them.

It is important to seek and accept help, whether that be from family and friends, or from a professional grief counsellor.

Let us help you

Support for our clients

We know that no-one can understand exactly what your loss feels like to you. But at Bartholomew & Sons we do understand that it’s sometimes easier to talk to someone outside of your friends and family about grief and the impact of bereavement on your life and this is why we offer the SAIFCare Chat service.

SAIFCare Chat is a package of bereavement support services including a telephone bereavement careline and email support.

SAIFCare is supported by GriefChat, created by bereavement experts where you can talk directly to a specially trained bereavement counsellor.

Grief support organisations

In our local area of Rotherham, there are some wonderful organisations who can help you during this difficult time.

Rotherham Hospice

Rotherham Hospice provides both one to one and group support sessions.

Cruse Bereavement Care

Cruse is a national charity that provides advice, information and support to anyone who has been bereaved, whenever or however the death occurred. The service is provided by trained, experienced volunteers and is confidential and free.

Specialist support organisations

If you have suffered the loss of a loved one due to suicide or through a sudden or traumatic event, there are some specialist organisations who may be able to offer more tailored support to you.

Amparo

Amparo provides support for anyone affected by suicide. Support can be provided one-to-one, to family groups, groups of colleagues or peers – whatever is preferred by you and is most appropriate to your situation. The service can be delivered in your home or wherever you are most comfortable. Access to services is by referral.

Hope

Hope is a peer support group set up to bring together people who have suffered a sudden traumatic bereavement through a fire, road traffic collision or drowning. They hold group meetings at the Fire and Rescue Service Training Centre Sheffield.
